This course introduces learners to the language integral to the patient journey, such as admission, interview, test, treatment, surgery, and end-of-life care. It is designed for upper intermediate to advanced learners (B2 and C1).

Terms & Conditions

The Diploma in Academic English and Study Skills is a comprehensive programme designed to equip students with the essential language proficiency and academic skills necessary for success in higher education.

London School of Medical and Health Sciences (LSMHS)

The following Terms and Conditions govern the relationship between the London School of Medical and Health Sciences (hereinafter referred to as “LSMHS”, “the Institution”, or “we”) and its students (hereinafter referred to as “the Student” or “you”). These terms apply to all individuals enrolled in courses, programmes, or activities at LSMHS, whether for undergraduate, graduate, or professional qualifications.

By enrolling in a programme at LSMHS, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. Please read them carefully, as they constitute a legally binding agreement between you and the Institution. If you have any questions, please contact the Registrar’s Office for clarification before proceeding with your enrolment.
1. General Provisions
1.1 Acceptance of Terms
By completing the application process, and upon the confirmation of your enrolment, you agree to abide by all terms, conditions, and policies set forth by LSMHS. This includes the Institution’s academic, financial, and behavioural expectations.

1.2 Changes to Terms and Conditions
LSMHS reserves the right to update or amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time, and any amendments will be communicated to students in a timely manner. The most current version of the Terms and Conditions will be available on the LSMHS website. Continued enrolment in the programme after any updates or amendments constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms and Conditions.
2. Admission and Enrolment
2.1 Admission Requirements
Admission to LSMHS is contingent upon meeting the academic and professional criteria for the programme to which you are applying. These requirements may include but are not limited to, academic qualifications, standardised test scores (e.g., GRE, MCAT), professional experience, letters of recommendation, and proficiency in English.

2.2 Enrolment Confirmation
Enrolment in a programme is confirmed upon receipt of payment of the required tuition and fees and the completion of all necessary documentation, including but not limited to official transcripts, identification documents, and program agreements.

2.3 Programme Changes
LSMHS reserves the right to alter the programme structure, course offerings, or course content, and to make changes to the academic calendar as necessary to accommodate institutional needs, faculty availability, or other external factors. Students will be notified promptly of any substantial modifications.
3. Tuition and Fees
3.1 Tuition Fees
Students are required to pay the tuition fees for their programme as specified in the official fee schedule provided by LSMHS. Tuition fees are non-negotiable and are subject to change at the discretion of the institution. Any increase in tuition fees will be communicated to students with reasonable notice.

3.2 Payment Schedule
Tuition fees must be paid according to the payment schedule outlined in the financial agreement provided to each student at the time of enrolment. Students are responsible for ensuring that payments are made promptly and in full as per the agreed schedule. Failure to meet payment deadlines may result in penalties, withholding of academic records, or suspension from the programme.

3.3 Late Payment and Penalties
In the event of late payment, LSMHS reserves the right to charge late fees and/or suspend the student’s access to their courses until payment is made in full. Continuous non-payment may result in dismissal from the programme.

3.4 Refunds
Refunds are subject to the Refund Policy of LSMHS, which provides details on eligibility and the amounts payable upon withdrawal. All refund requests must be submitted in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Refund Policy.
4. Academic Performance and Standards
4.1 Academic Progress
The Student commits to maintaining satisfactory academic progress throughout the duration of their programme. This includes attending all required classes, participating in coursework, completing assignments on time, and achieving the minimum grade requirements established by LSMHS.

4.2 Academic Probation
Failure to meet the academic standards set by LSMHS may result in the student being placed on academic probation. Students on probation will be given a designated period to improve their academic standing. Continued failure to meet the required standards may result in removal from the programme.

4.3 Academic Misconduct
Any form of academic dishonesty, including but not limited to plagiarism, cheating, or falsifying academic records, will result in disciplinary action. Depending on the severity of the misconduct, penalties may include academic probation, suspension, or expulsion from the programme.
5. Code of Conduct
5.1 Behavioural Expectations
The Student agrees to adhere to LSMHS’s Code of Conduct, which requires respectful and professional behaviour at all times. This includes adhering to the Institution’s values and maintaining a high standard of ethical conduct in academic, clinical, and social settings. Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary measures, including suspension or expulsion from the programme.

5.2 Prohibited Behaviour
Prohibited behaviour includes, but is not limited to, harassment, discrimination, substance abuse, bullying, and violence. Any such actions will be subject to investigation and may result in termination of enrolment or other disciplinary actions.
6. Withdrawal and Termination
6.1 Voluntary Withdrawal
Should a student choose to withdraw from the programme, they must submit an official withdrawal request in writing to the Registrar’s Office, following the procedures outlined in the Withdrawal Policy. Depending on the time of withdrawal, students may be entitled to a refund, subject to the Refund Policy.

6.2 Involuntary Withdrawal
LSMHS reserves the right to terminate a student’s enrolment in the event of academic misconduct, behavioural violations, failure to meet financial obligations, or failure to maintain satisfactory academic progress. In such cases, students will be informed in writing of the termination and any associated consequences.

6.3 Force Majeure
In the event of a force majeure event, such as natural disasters, political instability, or other unforeseen circumstances, LSMHS reserves the right to modify or suspend the programme. Students will be notified in advance of any significant changes to the program, and LSMHS will make reasonable efforts to mitigate the impact on students’ education.
7. Intellectual Property and Confidentiality
7.1 Intellectual Property
Any intellectual property, including research, publications, or inventions produced by students in the course of their studies, may be subject to institutional policies regarding ownership and use. Students are required to comply with all intellectual property guidelines set by LSMHS.

7.2 Confidentiality
The Student agrees to maintain the confidentiality of all proprietary, clinical, or research information they may be privy to during their enrolment. This includes, but is not limited to, patient information, institutional data, and research materials. Breach of confidentiality will result in disciplinary action.
8. Data Protection and Privacy
8.1 Data Collection
LSMHS collects and processes the personal data of its students in accordance with data protection laws and institutional policies. This data is used for administrative, academic, and legal purposes, including managing student records, processing tuition payments, and facilitating communication.

8.2 Consent to Data Processing
By enrolling at LSMHS, you consent to the collection, use, and processing of your personal data as necessary for the operation of the institution. Students have the right to access and correct their personal data in accordance with data protection laws.
9. Limitation of Liability
9.1 Liability for Damages
LSMHS shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of its facilities, services, or programmes. Students agree that their participation in the programme is at their own risk and that the Institution is not responsible for any personal injury, loss of property, or financial loss that may occur during the course of their enrolment.

9.2 Force Majeure
LSMHS shall not be held liable for any failure to fulfil its obligations under these Terms and Conditions in the event of force majeure, including but not limited to natural disasters, strikes, acts of terrorism, or other extraordinary events beyond the Institution’s control.
10. Governing Law
10.1 Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United Kingdom.
